Alyssa Farr is a senior at NHS and a life long resident of Newberg. She plans to go to college next year and major in biology and pre-med with the goal of becoming a doctor. She is a member of the Newberg High School Symphonic Band which will soon travel to Disneyland. She likes the small town feel of Newberg and looks forward to fulfilling her duties on the court, taking part in one of her hometown's strongest traditions. She is a very compassionate young lady who likes helping people, but by her own admission is a little reserved so looks forward to challenging herself in this public position.

She is involved in Yamhill County Peer Court, Peer Mediators, and Natural Helpers. She feels it is important for youth to have strong role models and feels she can be that, as she herself has overcome adversity. She is very outgoing and enjoys meeting new people. She is an active volunteer with the Newberg Animal Shelter Friends and has helped to raise money for a new shelter as she has a passion for animals.

She is active in church activities and is a chaplain at her school. Early struggles with medical issues as a child have made her very compassionate and have motivated her to enter the medical profession to help others. She has a love for the outdoors. She looks forward to representing her faith, family, and commuinty. One her goals for Newberg would be increased unity between cultures and would encourage more community activities throughout the year.
These young ladies are wonderful examples of what is right about youth in Newberg and are looking forward to spending the summer as the 2009 Newberg Old Fashioned Festival Court.
